RAGHEAD
Raghead tells the story of Omar, an Arab descendant boy who lives with his grandmother in New York. Omar’s father is absent from his life because he joined the American Military, and is on duty out of the country. Our story begins when Omar is 11 years old, in the aftermath period, 3 months after the 9/11 attacks, where he is getting beat-up at school by other kids who discriminate against him based on his heritage. Omar is conflicted about the value of his Arab heritage and has an internal dilemma whether he should wear his "thawb" for Heritage Day.
As Raghead unfolds, Omar finds his own way of solving his internal conflict; his maturity and witty nature allow him to not only embrace his family’s culture as part of his identity, but also bring to light the prejudice of the ones around him through a simple but intelligent prank.
